What is an ERT?

Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians (ERTs) are Sterile Processing Technicians that have been specially trained to clean, sterilize, and store endoscopes. This additional training is necessary as endoscopes require special techniques because they have components not usually found on other medical instruments.

About Our Program

Our program is designed to prepare you for both the CBSPD Certification Exam and the rigor of the healthcare industry. Certifications are valid for 5 years. This program meets the national and international credentialing industry standards for the development, implementation, and maintenance of certification programs set by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)You do not need any prior education or experience in the healthcare industry or the medical field to enroll.

Our program is the fastest in the area, you can complete the ERT program just 2-3 weeks depending on the schedule of your choice. We offer a variety of schedules so you can choose the one that works for you. Unique features of the course include:

  • Weekend Classes
  • 80% Live Online Classes
  • 20% In-Person Labs
  • Qualification for the CBSPD Exam in just 30 hours

To enroll in this course you must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. You must provide a government ID and submit to a background check.

ERTs are In-Demand

The demand for Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians is growing with the popularity of minimally invasive procedures. Computer-assisted surgeries that use scopes are also on the rise and with this growth comes the need for more people to sterilize and maintain those scopes. The rising demand for these types of surgeries provides ERTs with job security and an advantage over Sterile Processing & Distribution Technicians.

ERTs are Sterile Processing Technicians who use their skills to negotiate higher salaries than those without specialized training or certification. Entry-level SPD Techs can expect to earn $50,000 per year, with top earners bringing home upwards of $75,000 per year. With an ERT certification, you become more valuable to employers and can leverage this value to earn more money.

SPD + ERT Promotion

We’ll waive your ERT Registration fee when you co-enroll in SPD. Combined with our Option 1 discount, you could save up to $545.00 while boosting your earning potential and making yourself more attractive to employers.

The ERT course in addition to our SPD course gives you a head start in the field. SPD Techs with ERT training open themselves to greater job opportunities, stand out to employers during the hiring process, and can negotiate better salaries than SPD Techs without it. It is taught by an experienced Sterile Processing & Endoscope Reprocessing Tech who managed the sterile processing department for more than 20 years.

The class curriculum is based on the guidelines set by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc or CBSPD, the ONLY independent and international certification board for Endoscope Reprocessing. This program meets the recognized national and international credentialing industry standards for the development, implementation, and maintenance of certification programs set by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Completing this course makes you eligible to take the national board exam administered by CBSPD.
