Apply for your Board Exam!
Students taking an exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) can take it with our partners at Zenith Career Services (ZCS)! Altamont Healthcare students taking an NCCT exam through ZCS will have the $20 sitting fee waived for their first attempt; all subsequent attempts will cost $20.
Students taking an exam through the Central Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD Inc.) must physically mail their application to CBSPD, 1392 US Hwy 22, Suite #1, LEBANON, NJ 08833. To take the test, you must register with PSI Exams. Stockton students should consider taking the exam at the PSI Test Site located at Zenith Career Services.
Consider our Externship Program!
Congratulations to our graduates who have passed the certification exam! You’re now a board-certified healthcare worker! Now that you have that crucial step, it’s time to get some real-world experience.
Altamont Healthcare’s exclusive externship program is an open door into the healthcare industry. All Altamont Healthcare graduates are eligible for placement within 2 years of passing their NCCT or CBSPD certification exam(s). Externs are expected to work 240-400 hours in a partner hospital in our extensive placement network. This network comprises outpatient surgery centers, local hospitals, and major healthcare institutions, such as Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente, across the Central Valley. A career-building workshop is included in addition to the externship, focusing on resume creation, employment preparation, and workplace professionalism.
Externships are not necessary to find employment as a Sterile Processing & Distribution (SPD) Technician or Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician. Externships are here to set our students up for success by providing real-world experience and opportunities for career advancement. Career conversion is not guaranteed, but may be offered by employers upon completion, depending on performance, availability, and personality fit.
